Can I purchase cover for my medical conditions?

Yes, you certainly can. One Tree Travel is a trading style of Freedom Insurance Services Limited, one of the very first travel insurance intermediaries to provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions. We consider ourselves medical travel insurance experts. After all, we've given more than 500,000 people the Freedom to travel with existing health conditions.

What is a pre-existing medical condition?

In a nutshell, a pre-existing medical condition refers to a health condition diagnosed prior to the purchase of a travel insurance policy.

During our online customer journey, we will ask a handful of questions about your medical history. Firstly, we'll ask about the last five years, focusing on conditions such as heart problems, strokes or respiratory conditions. We will then look to more recent medical history, capturing your on-going prescriptions and conditions. Unfortunately, if you haven't received a diagnosis yet or if you're still under investigation, we will not be able to offer cover for your trip.

Refer to the policy wording for the full health declaration, terms and conditions.

Why cover medical conditions?

When purchasing travel insurance with One Tree Travel, you must disclose the medical history relevant to the policy health declaration, ensuring we have a clear and accurate picture of your medical history to assess the risk of international travel, provide appropriate cover and calculate your insurance premium.

Don't worry about the names of your medication or the dosage. We only need to know the names of your diagnosed conditions, as they would appear on your GP records. When prompted, simply type your pre-existing medical conditions into the search box during our online customer journey. You'll be asked some questions about each condition you declare. Once complete, we'll provide you with a quote and email you a copy of your health declaration so you can check through the details.

How do I get a quote with pre-existing medical conditions?

Step 1 - Your trip details

Press 'Get a Quote' to enter our online customer journey. Complete your trip details including your travel destinations, dates and details of the people you need to insure on the policy.

Step 2 - Health declaration

We'll need you to answer four questions on behalf of everyone to be insured on the policy. These questions represent our health declaration and are designed to help you when disclosing relevant medical history.

Step 3 - Medical screening

Use our health declaration to guide you through medical screening. If you are disclosing information for other people, make sure you have their consent and full knowledge of their medical history.

Step 4 - Here's your quote!

Job done, it's as simple as that. Once screening is complete, we'll provide a quote to include cover for your declared pre-existing medical conditions. Choose from two levels of cover, selecting the most appropriate for your trip!
