Sharing (and measuring) best practice
Our hosts explained that they had felt for some time that they were 'doing the right thing but...' as a business and, being in financial services, their instinct was to ask, '...how do we measure it?' The B Corp certification process provided the answer, and they made clear that it not a destination but a journey.
This is reassuring for our team at Freedom Insurance Services, of which One Tree Travel is a trading name. The B Labs portal has a wide-ranging questionnaire to complete which is free to access and gives you an initial B Impact assessment, highlighting areas that have potential for improvement relating to the following 5 pillars:
- Environment
- Governance
- People
- Community
- Customer
Becketts' example was in inspiration for me. Their presentation was honest and there was no hiding the hard work that B Corp certification entails, but they pulled together as a team and regularly shared the progress they were making. I hope, with the team behind One Tree Travel, that we can similarly collaborate, and I look forward to sharing our progress at team briefings and here on the blog, or should that be B-Log?!
